The Ukrainian Museum in NYC hosted the opening reception of the Revolution of Dignity Art Exhibit: Images from Ukraine’s Maidan, 2013-2014. The display of works by 17 Ukrainian artists will last until March 26 under the auspices of the Embassy of Ukraine, Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Art of Ukraine, Fulbright Program - Ukraine and Kennan Institute at Wilson Center (Washington, DC).
Ambassador of Ukraine to the US Valeriy Chaly noted in his address that public and cultural diplomacy is an effective mechanism for deeper understanding of events in and around Ukraine and consolidating international support of our country that defends democratic values and human right and freedoms. The address was read to the audience by head of Cultural and Information Center of the Embassy Olha Ivanova.
The Exhibit was presented to the audience by Director of the Ukrainian Museum Maria Shust, Director of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine Marta Kolomayets and Kennan Institute fellow Anna Kovalenko.
The event was dedicated to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes’ Day (observed in Ukraine) and was combined with the screening of the documentary by the US Film Director and Producer Damian Kolodiy Freedom or Death about the Revolution of Dignity and Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The opening reception and the screening were attended by Consul General of Ukraine in NY Igor Sybiga.
