The event will gather Ukrainian and US politicians, diplomats, officials, representatives of business communities, activists and leaders of thought.
“Winter on Fire” is a documentary that shows the fight of the Ukrainian people for freedom and democracy during the Revolution of Dignity. It is a cinematic tribute to the heroism, strong spirit and determination of the Ukrainian people.
The screening organized by the Embassy of Ukraine as part of Ukraine’s Independence Day celebrations will become an introduction of “Winter on Fire” to the American audience. After the world’s premier at the Venice Film Festival in the beginning of September, the film has received wide recognition both from critics and the public and won the Grolsch People’s Choice Documentary Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
At the event, Ambassador Valeriy Chaly will also present a book titled “Country of Dignity” book that tells a story about Ukraine’s path to democracy and freedom. The book includes special features on Ukraine’s efforts to mobilize the international support to stop the Russian aggression and free Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov, Oleksander Kolchenko and other illegally imprisoned Ukrainians.
