On February 26, 2013 Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Paul Grod. Also, Mr. Michael Sawkiw, Director of the Ukrainian National Information Service, Washington bureau of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America took part in the meeting.
P.Grod briefly informed Ambassador of Ukraine of Ukrainian Canadian community life and activities of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
During the meeting they, particularly, discussed issues of cooperation between U.S. and Canadian Ukrainian community and Ukraine to support European aspirations of Ukraine, promotion of Ukrainian culture, as well as language and traditions in the North America, preparation for celebration of the coming memorable dates in the history of Ukraine, namely, the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor 1932 -1933 and the 200th anniversary of T.Shevchenko’s birthday.
It was agreed, that joint constructive dialogue and cooperation are needed to promote the interests of Ukraine along with those of Ukrainian communities worldwide.
Also a number of other future joint projects were discussed.
