Last year the Sumy regional public organization ‘Vira project’ initiated a project called ‘Communicating freely by introducing the native town to others’; the initiative includes conduct of art guided tours for the local population and guests of Sumy by volunteers-guides. In such a way public activists plan both to popularize the land and to get the local youth involved into the project.
The program includes both practical part (guided tours) and theoretical one consisted of 4 four-hour sessions given by a guide-expert, a participant and co-planner of routes around historical places of Sumy. At the sessions the participants learn more about the basic notions of excursion activity, benefits from using artifacts and modern interpretations for creating a city image, particularities in delivering information to different types of audience, etc. According to the project activists, art guided tours are going to be conducted on the City Day celebrated on September 2.
