On June 7, 2013 the Embassy hosted a meeting with students from Bruce-Monroe elementary school of Washington, DC.
Ambassador Olexander Mostyk told the kids about the Ukrainian-American relations and Embassy building, which was the site of a March 29, 1791, meeting between President George Washington and local land-owners to discuss the federal government's purchase of land needed to build a new capital city for the young United States of America.
The students, who studied Ukrainian culture and history during the year, as well as represented Ukraine at the annual Mini United Nations organized in DC, presented a Ukrainian fairy tale book they’ve made. They also reviewed the Embassy’s exhibition of pysankas and Ukrainian dolls. Afterwards, all guests were invited to a sweet buffet.
The cooperation of the Embassy with Bruce-Monroe elementary school takes place in the framework of program of cooperation implemented together with District of Columbia Public Schools.
