On July 8, 2013 Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met in Washington, D.C. with Lithuania’s Ambassador to the U.S. Žygimantas Pavilionis.
On July 1, 2013 Lithuania assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Ambassadors discussed Ukraine’s European aspirations including in the context of preparing for signing an Association and Free Trade Zone Agreement between Ukraine and the EU at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November this year.
Ambassador Motsyk informed of the measures taken by the Government of Ukraine to comply with arrangements reached by Kyiv and Brussels within the framework of the above summit.
Also, the Ukrainian diplomat thanked Ambassador Pavilionis for Lithuanian support of Ukraine’s European aspirations.
It was noted that both Ukraine and the EU will benefit from the signing of the Agreement at the Vilnius summit.
