The state is located on the U.S. East Coast, 300 miles north of New York City.

While in the state capital - the city of Providence, Ambassador of Ukraine met with Governor of Rhode Island Lincoln Chafee to discuss a wide range of aspects of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, including the regional partnership. The sides exchanged views regarding promising areas of cooperation in business and investments, joint projects in education, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Rhode Island and the regions of Ukraine, in particular Rivne region, which has already expressed its willingness to establish mutually beneficial connections with the U.S. state.

O.Motsyk informed the Governor of the pace of social and economic reforms in Ukraine, business environment, export and investment opportunities of Ukrainian regions. Specific attention was paid to the foreign policy priorities, including strategic partnership with the United States and European integration as well as Ukraine's preparations for signing the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement with the EU in November 2013.

It was agreed to maintain contacts between the Embassy and the Office of the Governor in order to establish practical cooperation between Rivne region and the state of Rhode Island and including exchange of delegations between Ukrainian and American regions.

During his visit to Rhode Island Ambassador of Ukraine took part in the business lunch with the representatives of business and political circles of the state.

On the occasion of Ambassador’s visit to Rhode Island the Speaker of the House of Representatives, along with the leaders of the majority and the minority of the state’s legislative body prepared a greeting to the Ambassador of Ukraine on behalf of the Congress with the wishes of further development of mutually beneficial bilateral relations.
