On November 22, 2013, the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. hosted the screening of a film of Kyiv’s Ivan Franko National Theatre production of Irena Kowal’s play “The Lion and the Lioness”, starring the late Bohdan Stupka as Leo Tolstoy and Polina Lazova as Sonia Tolstoy. The screening was organized by the diplomatic mission along with The Washington Group (TWG), a non-profit organization of Ukrainian Americans promoting Ukraine-U.S. ties and Ukrainian culture in the U.S.

Prior to the screening, the guests were addressed by Counselor Stanislav Yezhov, TWG Cultural Fund Director Svitlana Shiells and author Irena Kowal.
