Representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA were happy to join the 20th annual Washington Ukrainian Festival  – an annual event that gathers Ukrainians located around the American capital on the grounds of Saint Andrews Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of Metropolitan Washington DC in Silver Spring.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oksana Markarova delivered the opening remarks. She expressed gratitude to the American people and government and emphasized the importance of preserving and nurturing our culture, traditions, and language, especially now, when our enemies are attempting to deprive us of them.

Representative of Senator Cardin, Kevin Mack, and the representative of the Governor of Maryland, Deputy Secretary of State Michael Lore, also addressed the audience and reiterated their continuing support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

The festival program which will last September 16th to 17th includes a concert featuring Ukrainian dance groups and performers from the USA and Canada, as well as special guests from Ukraine – Oleg Skrypka and Natalia Valevska.

There are also workshops, a fair, children's activities, and delicious Ukrainian food. 

A portion of the proceeds will go towards humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
