On July 3, 2014, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Vice President of the United States Joseph Biden in which he informed the Vice President on current situation in the Donbas.
The parties discussed future possible international efforts to support the position of Ukraine.
The Head of State informed on the results of the meeting between Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia in Berlin and outlined his vision of future steps in the context of the arrangements achieved.
Petro Poroshenko emphasized his readiness to get back to the ceasefire regime as soon as there will be a confirmation of its bilateral honoring, all hostages will be released and the control over the border will be established under the monitoring of the OSCE. The Head of State stressed that he is ready to begin content-related political negotiations without any additional conditions.
Joseph Biden assured that the USA shares and supports the approach of the Ukrainian President to the settlement of the situation in a difficult time for Ukraine and is ready to make efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine.
The President expressed gratitude to the people of the United States and congratulated the Vice President on the forthcoming Independence Day celebrated in the USA on July 4. “Ukraine is now fighting for its independence and knows the price of it,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
