President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.
The Head of State informed on the development of the situation in the Donbas and the continuation of efforts aimed at peaceful settlement.
The President emphasizes that after the termination of the ceasefire regime, Ukraine bears even less losses than in the course of its validity because militants didn't comply with the ceasefire. In such a situation, Petro Poroshenko had to restore the CTO following the decision of the NSDC.
The Head of State assured that pursuant to Berlin arrangements of the Foreign Ministers of 4 countries, Ukraine is ready to continue the work of trilateral contact group, particularly to hold the next meeting on July 5. Ukraine suggested the place and time of holding and is now waiting for the confirmation of the other party.
Catherine Ashton asked about the efforts Ukraine expects from the EU. "On behalf of 28 states, I would like to assure you of our support," she stressed.
The President expressed gratitude to the High Representative of the European Union for her fruitful efforts in preparations to the signature of the Association Agreement with the EU.
Petro Poroshenko noted that the ceremony of signing the Agreement on June 27 had become the most positive event for Ukraine in recent times.
