In a phone conversation, the President of Ukraine expressed condolences to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands over the aircraft tragedy

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte in the course of which he informed on the circumstances of downing of Malaysia Airlines plane en route from Amsterdam to Kuala-Lumpur.

Petro Poroshenko expressed the deepest and the most sincere condolences to families and friends of those who died in this dreadful tragedy. He also expressed confidence that those responsible for the given tragedy would be brought to justice.

The President informed that in recent days, it had become the third tragic accident following AN-26 and SU-25 aircrafts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces downed from the Russian territory. He also informed that he had initiated an Emergency State Commission for the thorough investigation of that tragedy and invited experts from the ICAO and the Netherlands to join the investigation efforts.

In response, Prime Minister Rutte expressed gratitude to Petro Poroshenko for prompt reaction and expressed willingness to send Dutch experts to carry out joint investigation of reasons and circumstances of the tragedy. He assured of his support of the Ukrainian President’s efforts.
