President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with the US Vice President Joseph Biden, during which they have discussed the situation in Donbas and the course of the international investigation into the circumstances of the flight MH17 shootdown.
In particular, the Head of State informed that experts accompanied by the OSCE Mission have reached the crash site of the plane, and for a second day are working at the crash site. He noted that access and safe operation of the experts were madepossible through a unilateral ceasefire by Ukrainian side in the 20 kilometers area ofthe crash site, and the appropriate agreement with the rebels during the last tripartite meeting of the contact group in Minsk.
"The format of the settlement, which we set in place of the investigation, namely the bilateral ceasefire, OSCE monitoring with the use of appropriate technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles, tripartite negotiations of the contact group, beginning of the hostages liberation, will later become a model for the whole area of hostilities, and provide for the full implementation of the peace plan ", said President Poroshenko.
Joseph Biden has appreciated the contribution of President Poroshenko and welcomed the consolidation of Parliaments and Government, through which it became possible to maintain political stability in Ukraine. He also expressed support towards the Ukraine's position by the United States within the IMF, which is considering providing the second tranche under the support program Stand-by. In addition, as informed the Vice President of the United States, a special team dedicated to expanding the direct economic support for Ukraine is now functioning. Overall, apart from the financial and economic help, the USA are considering expanding its support for Ukraine in other areas.
The parties have agreed to support direct contact with the intensity depending on the further development of the situation in Ukraine.
