On November 12, 2014, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with Volodymyr Klymenko, President of Ukrainian Grain Association, and Mykola Gorbachov, Vice-President and General Director of “New World Grain Ukraine”.
During their visit to the United States Mr.Klymenko and Mr.Gorbachov will focus on adopting the best practices in U.S. agriculture, attracting American investment and modern technologies, as well as on preparations for the fifth Ukrainian Grain Congress, the next round of which to be held in Washington, DC, during March of 2015.
During the meeting the parties discussed the topics of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the agricultural sector, and the actions necessary to strengthen this mutually beneficial cooperation. They also noted the urgent need for the exchange of working visits at the Ministerial level, development of cooperation in the agricultural sector (in particular in biotechnology and the implementation of modern technologies to increase productivity), the improvement of the regulatory framework and organization of large-scale specialized bilateral activities, as well as conferences, fora and exhibitions.
V.Klymenko announced the start of preparations for the third round of the fifth Ukrainian Grain Congress. The main purpose of the Congress is a presentation of export opportunities in the Ukrainian grain sector, high quality domestic grains and the products of their processing, attractive investment opportunities in the Ukrainian agrarian sector, and the establishment of mutually beneficial contacts between Ukrainian and American companies.
For his part, Ambassador Motsyk expressed his willingness to provide extensive assistance in the organization of the Congress, and other events in the U.S. to promote Ukrainian agricultural production in the U.S. market.
