On December 22-24, 2014 delegation of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSCIPU), led by Chairman Volodymyr Zverev, visited Washington, DC.
While in the United States Ukrainian delegation held meetings with senior U.S. State Department officials, representatives of “Microsoft” and gave interviews to American and Ukrainian media.
On Monday, December 22, SSCIPU signed an agreement to participate in the Government Security Program (GSP) with “Microsoft” which became one of the key accomplishments of the visit. By entering into the GSP Ukrainian side will secure controlled access to “Microsoft” source code and other technical information needed to ensure confidence in security features and capabilities of “Microsoft” products and services and to enhance its ability to design and operate more secure IT infrastructures.
The Agreement was signed by Chairman of SSSCIPU Volodymyr Zverev (on behalf of the Government of Ukraine) and Jamie Wylly, General Manager for Public Safety and National Security of “Microsoft”. Nadiia Vasylieva, CEO of “Microsoft Ukraine”, and Igor Kozachenko, Director of The State Science-Research Institute of Special Communication and Information Protection, also participated in the ceremony.
The event took place in the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington D.C. and was opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk, who expressed his conviction that the signing of the Agreement on cybersecurity would be another important step towards strengthening the national security of Ukraine.
