The initiative to establish partnerships between business communities and chambers of commerce of Kherson and Kent was launched by the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. in September 2014 to revive sister-city relations between the cities and implemented with the active support of Valeriy Goloborodko, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Washington.

In 2015 representatives of Kherson business circles plan to visit the state of Washington to discuss the prospects of the U.S. - Ukraine cooperation in inter-regional format.

Kent is a city located in the heart of Seattle-Tacoma metroplex in the industrial and agricultural Washington state. The sixth largest city and powerful industrial center, Kent is now home to hundreds of companies. Among the many corporations headquartered in the area are REI (Recreational Equipment Inc.), Flow International Corporation and Omax Corporation. Boeing, Whirlpool, General Electric, etc. also have their regional distribution centers in Kent.
