The march of solidarity with French people, over the terrorist attacks in Paris, took place on January 11, 2015, in Washington DC, at the initiative of Ambassador of France to the U.S. Gérard Araud.
Thousands of people participated in the march; among them there were representatives of the U.S. government and society, diplomatic corps in D.C., including the ambassadors of the leading European countries, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde. Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk also attended the event.
The march started from Newseum - symbol of journalism and freedom of the press, located between the Capitol and the White House, and ended at the monument dedicated to those who lost their lives, protecting law and order and safety of people – the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
