The exhibition with proofs of Russian troops' presence on the territory of Ukraine will be opened in Kyiv
21 February 2015 15:18

On the days of anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv, documentary exhibition "Presence. Proofs of Russian troops' aggression on the territory of Ukraine" will be functioning.

The exhibition will include remnants of ammunition, samples of heavy weaponry, small arms, drones, documents, clothes, proofs of information war, photos and video documents.

The initiative of the exhibition belongs to the Presidential Administration. The exhibits have been provided by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Security Service, the National Guard, the State Border Service, the State Emergency Service. The support has been provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Infrastructure. Informational support is provided by the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Andriy Taranov has informed that the exhibition would include the proofs of usage of the state-of-the-art weapons by the so-called new republics. "Now we have the equipment which "could be bought in supermarkets", according to some individuals. It will be used as a real proof of the aggressor's presence," Andriy Taranov said.

Grenade launchers dated with the year of 2014, which are not produced in Ukraine and have been captured by Ukrainian militaries in the course of the operation in Debaltseve, will be presented. Another evidence is drones produced only in Russia and equipped with technology, which can broadcast the image to the distance of more than 20 km, convey the image and coordinates of targets and make fire adjustments.

Andriy Taranov demonstrated the "results" of usage of the equipment "purchased in supermarkets" – shelling of the passenger bus in Volnovakha, residential areas in Mariupol and Kramatorsk. "Unfortunately, these are cluster munitions, which consist of about 80 elements and kill people over a large area. There is no military target in Kramatorsk. Thus, there is a question: who made a decision to open fire and what was the purpose of it?" he said.

The co-founder of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center and Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Administration on Information Policy Natalia Popovych has noted that elements of the exhibition proved that Russian myth about civil war in Ukraine was groundless. "The war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine is called hybrid. Still, victims of the given conflict are real. Each day we are losing the best sons of Ukraine because someone believes in myths, lies and informational manipulations of Russian propagators," she said.

Natalia Popovych has underlined the importance of cooperation with international media and invited their representatives and diplomatic community to the opening of the exhibition. "Their words and impressions will largely determine the fate and success of the Ukrainian state," she emphasized.

Curator of the exhibition Volodymyr Kadyhrob has noted that its organizers had tried to convey the entire picture of the hybrid war in Ukraine – from informational component, executors to ammunition and consequences of its application. According to him, the exhibits are only a small part of the evidence base, "but it is enough to form the impression about what is going on".

Official opening of the exhibition for media will take place on February 21 at 12:00 (under preliminary accreditation) on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv. The visitors can attend the exhibition at 13:00. The exhibition will be functioning from February 21 to February 28, from 10:00 to 22:00. Then, part of exhibits will be conveyed to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. The other part, which is material evidence in the criminal proceedings initiated by the security institutions, will be returned to the respective bodies.
