The diplomats of the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States of America and the representatives of the local Ukrainian community honored the memory of the Great Kobzar (Ministrel) on the anniversary of his birth and death by laying flowers to the Monument of Taras Shevchenko in Washington, D.C.

In his address, Ambassador of Ukraine Olexander Motsyk highlighted an outstanding value of Shevchenko’s legacy to not only Ukrainian, but also to the world culture. The Chief of Ukrainian Diplomatic Mission said that Poet’s lyrics composed before the last century remains highly topical even our days. Taras Shevchenko keeps on inspiring us in hardships and helps to maintain our hope in the ultimate victory of the truth and freedom.
