On March 19, 2015 Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk took part in the Ukrainian-American Business Forum in the U.S. Congress.
The American Center for European Ukraine (ACEU) and the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) were the main organizers of this event.
In his speech, O. Motsyk informed about the current situation in Ukraine, the results of Government’s reforms, economic policy priorities and implementation of the loan program with the IMF. Ambassador assured American business community that business support, creation of a favorable investment climate and fight against corruption are among the key priorities of the Ukrainian Government.
Over 60 representatives of American business, including such well-known companies as Monsanto, ADM, City Group, SigmaBleyzer, and U.S. Government agencies, including departments of commerce and energy, the U.S. expert community and representative of the Ukrainian diaspora, attended the Business Forum.
Forum’s participants discussed the current financial and economic situation in Ukraine and the losses of our country from the Russian military aggression, as well as thoroughly analyzed the prospects of the national economy recovery, economic reforms agenda and opportunities to deepen trade, economic and investment cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. A special topic of debates at the Forum was the urgent steps significantly to strengthen financial and economic assistance to Ukraine from the United States, particularly in the banking, energy and agricultural sectors. Key speakers at the Forum have focused on strengthening the combat against corruption, the need to speed up reform of the energy sector, the support of the private sector, and the urgent need to increase financial aid to Ukraine from our partners.
The Forum also held a thematic exhibition devoted to the Maidan and the Revolution of Dignity. Several influential members of the U.S. Congress, including Senator Ted Cruz, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Congressman Sander Levin and Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
