On May 9, 2015, the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States of America participated in annual European Union Embassies' Open House in Washington, D.C., on the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the U.S.
The #UnitedForUkraine joint Open House event took place at Lithuanian Embassy and was attended by over three thousand guests from the U.S. and abroad.
Aimed at promoting stronger international support for Ukraine, some of event’s activities were focused on informing the public on recent developments in Ukraine as well as charitable fundraising to assist Ukrainians affected by Russian aggression.
As a part of presenting Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage, the traditions of Crimean Tatars – the indigenous ethnic group of the Crimean peninsula temporary occupied by the Russian Federation – were displayed.
Among event’s another highlights was the common history of Ukraine and Lithuania, which is important for defining the European identity of Ukraine and its foreign policy priority of integration with the EU.
