Chargé d’Affairs of Ukraine in the United States of America Yaroslav Brisiuck and Director of Ukrainian National Information Service, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America – Washington Bureau Michael Sawkiw took part in the annual Roll Call of Nations and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Victims of Communism Memorial on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., along with almost twenty other embassies as well as ethnic and human rights organizations.

Speaking at the Commemoration Ceremony, Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation Chairman Dr. Lee Edwards highlighted the importance of counteracting and spreading the truth on toxic impact of Russia’s blatant false propaganda against Ukraine. Russian human rights activist Mr. Alexander Podrabinek honored by 2015 Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom condemned attempts of “modified communism” to “imitate democracy” in search of international recognition of the regime. He underscored that blackmailing the world with nuclear weapons and the threat of aggression is unacceptable as well as hypocritical making use of international organizations’ membership and common atmosphere of diplomatic courtesy. He urged global democratic solidarity with those who oppose violence and oppression because the aspiration for freedom is the only truly driving force of the world civilization.
