Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly met with Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Thomas O. Melia.
Parties discussed further cooperation and priorities for further U.S. assistance in Ukraine. Ambassador Valeriy Chaly emphasized on a need to assist Ukraine's reform agenda, strengthening of democratic institutions and support of SMEs.
The interlocutors paid special attention to urgent needs of internally displaced persons in Ukraine, restoration of critical infrastructure in Donetsk and Lugansk regions as well as wider access to healthcare.
Thomas Melia underlined that Ukraine plays a very important role in United States Government efforts to help establishment of democratic institutions and free market economies in the region.
Both sides agreed on importance of technical assistance projects aimed at bolstering development of the national economy and attracting foreign investments to Ukraine.
