On September 19th, 2010 the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Mykola Prysiazhniuk, has arrived to the US with a one week working visit. The Ukrainian delegation also consists of: the Head of the Agrarian Policy and Land Relations Committee in the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada - Hryhoriy Kaletnyk, the Rector of the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine - Dmytro Melnychuk and the Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine Maxim Melnychuk.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with the Senator Tom Harkin, the Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus Marcy Kaptur, the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan, the leadership of the USAID, eventual investors and the agrarian companies’ representatives who have a commercial interest to Ukraine.
The main goal of the visit is both to make another political signal to the American side on the Ukrainian Government readiness to strengthen bilateral economic relations and to develop applied working procedures of such cooperation, essentially in the agrarian sector development.
A special attention will be paid to the possibility to establish the relationship between the educational as well as science and research organizations of both countries to implement new agrotechnologies at the Ukrainian market.
The delegation plans to visit Iowa which is one of the most developed agrarian regions in the US.
