Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Valeriy Chaly met with civil sector activists from different regions of Ukraine, who are currently visiting United States in the framework of the Open World Program of professional exchanges.
Addressing the guests of Ukrainian diplomatic mission, he highlighted the growing role of non-governmental organizations and civil society groups in the implementation of such key reforms as good governance, fighting corruption, support of IDP’s and preparing grounds for Crimea and Donbas reintegration. Valeriy Chaly stressed that Ukrainian leadership is now open for productive cooperation with the civil sector in all these important areas.
The Ambassador underscored that the US is Ukraine’s crucial international partner in counteracting Russian aggression and asked the delegation to be active in launching partnerships and joint regional cooperation projects with US local organizations in different states, where the group members will go as a part of their professional training. He assured that the Embassy of Ukraine is keen to support such initiatives.
Ukrainian civil sector activists and representatives of the US State Department and the Institute of Peace who attended the meeting joined the voice of the Embassy of Ukraine in support of Nadiya Savchenko.
