The first historic meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. space cooperation Working Group was held in Washington, DC.
The delegations were headed by Chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Liubomyr Sabadosh and DoS Director for Space and Advanced Technology Kenneth Hodgkins. Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation Vann Van Diepen also took part in the event.
The delegations exchanged ideas on the ways of strengthening cooperation in peaceful space exploration in a number of specific areas of mutual interest. The U.S. side expressed its willingness to intensify bilateral space cooperation.
Ambassador Chaly noted that people in Ukraine have really high expectations for the soonest establishment of full-scale mutually fruitful cooperation with the U.S. in the area of space exploration.
The delegations agreed to hold the next Working Group meeting next fall in Kyiv.
