Addressing the guests of the opening reception, Ambassador of Ukraine to the US Valeriy Chaly emphasized the impotence of cultural diplomacy for raising international public awareness all over the world, including the United States, about Ukraine and promoting it as a modern and dynamic country. He stressed that the Embassy of Ukraine to the US regards this task as one of its priorities. Congresswoman Jane Harman, President, Director and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson Center, highlighted how enthusiastic she was about this art project of supporting Ukraine and noted that Woodrow Wilson Center is open for cooperating in this field.

The panel discussion “Engaging Arts for Vibrant International Ukraine” hosted by the Woodrow Wilson Center on the same day was dedicated to exhibit’s opening. The participants of the panel were Victor Sydorenko, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine Hanna Hopko, Director of the Kyiv Office of the Kennan Institute Kateryna Smagliy, and Counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine to the US Olha Ivanova.

The art exhibit “Memory of Unconsciousness” by Victor Sydorenko is open for free public access in the Memorial Hall until November 2016. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Embassy of Ukraine in the US, Kennan Institute at Woodrow Wilson Center, the Institute of Strategic Studies "New Ukraine" and Lumier Pharma.
