On July 16, 2010, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the USA Olexander Motsyk met with the leaders of Ukrainian community of the greater Washington area at the Embassy of Ukraine.

During the meeting, which was also held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine, the Ambassador informed the distinguished audience about the path that Ukraine had gone through over these two decades.

The head of the diplomatic mission informed Ukrainian community representatives about the address of the president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to the Ukrainian people on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Declaration. He mentioned in particular that Ukraine has finally reached the long-awaited political stability; the foundation for deep systematic reforms are being laid which will put Ukraine on the path of sustainable social-economic development. The European prospects, the development of strategic relations with the centers of global politics, including with the Russian Federation, will ensure our economic prosperity and social progress, said the Ambassador.

He also provided the audience with the accounts on the latest developments of the internal political situation in Ukraine, implementation of system reforms in economic and energy spheres, judiciary system, on the efforts of the new government aimed at fighting corruption as well as regarding the main foreign policy priorities of our country.

Guests of the Ambassador had a chance to discuss these issues and also a number of other topics related to the bilateral Ukrainian-American cooperation during the informal conversation.
