The Embassy of Ukraine to the US hosted the concert of classic music that deserves to be heard in the United States and all over the world – pieces by talented Ukrainian composers Viktor Kosenko, Myroslav Skoryk, Borys Lyatoshynsky, Valentyn Silvestrov, Yevhen Stankovych and Oleksandr Shchetynsky were brilliantly performed by Solomiya Ivakhiv (violin) and Angelina Gadeliya (piano).
The first joint music album by Ukrainian American duo Ivakhiv-Gadeliya “Ukraine – Journey to Freedom: a Century of Classical Music for Violin and Piano” is a dedication to the 25th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence and all those who have been fighting for it and defend it now. It is the first compendium of works for violin and piano on CD written in various styles exclusively by Ukrainian composers over the course of a century in spite of prohibitions and restrictions of the Soviet era. It is the great music that deserves to represent Ukraine abroad.
The concert at the Embassy of Ukraine for American audience and foreign diplomats was organized jointly with The Embassy Series – cultural diplomacy US organization.
During the event, the guests of the Embassy of Ukraine had chance to learn more (from Embassy’s brochures and conversations with Ukrainian diplomats) about the ongoing Russian aggression and occupation of Crimea as well as about the history of Ukraine’s statehood that defines to great extend current political and social developments.
