The United States continues to build up pressure on Russia with new sanctions for its violation of international law and fueling the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

15 Russian arms sector entities as well as 8 entities illegally operating in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea are under strengthened US sanctions.
On December 27, the United States Department of Commerce adds 23 entities from Russia and Crimea region of Ukraine to the Entity List making Crimea economically toxic and blocking Russian defense industry activities.
