On August 23, 2012, in Washington D.C. the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States held a laying-flowers ceremony at the Taras Shevchenko Monument on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.

The ceremony was attended by the Ukrainian diplomats and Ukrainian Community in the U.S.

In his welcoming remarks Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk outlined major achievements of Ukraine over the years of its independence and expressed appreciation to Ukrainian Americans for their significant contribution to the revival and development of Ukraine’s Statehood.
