The National Day reception was attended by almost 500 guests - representatives of the U.S. Congress, U.S. Administration, U.S. National Security Council, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. National Guard, U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Trade, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, DC, U.S. business, representatives of the U.S. Ukrainian community and media.
In his opening remarks Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly expressed gratitude to the U.S. Administration and U.S. Congress for the sustainable development of the U.S.-Ukraine strategic partnership, increasing dynamics of political dialog and economic cooperation, unwavering U.S. support to Ukraine in enhancing its defense capabilities and promoting further reforms.
Greeting remarks to Ukraine were presented by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell, Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau Lieutenant General Daniel Hokanson, Congressmen Doug Lamborn and Duncan Hunter. “Ukraine is a symbol of freedom and self-determination for the West and entire world. Ukraine is the center of geopolitical struggle for the future of Europe. American position in this struggle is clear – we stand with Ukraine”, - Wess Mitchell stressed in his remarks.
It was an honor and pleasure for Ukraine’s Embassy team to have U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Marie Royce and Congressman Andy Harris as the guests of our National Day reception.
At the event guests had the opportunity to see innovative bicycles designed in Ukraine and presented by the Chumak Way Cycling Tour team, presentation on other scientific and technological innovations of Ukraine and Centennial of Ukraine's Statehood photo-exhibition on the events of Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921.
