This is the first ever major contract providing for direct government-to-government purchase of defense articles by Ukraine in the United States. The MoD of Ukraine is acquiring the Javelins through direct purchase from the U.S. Department of Defense under the Foreign Military Sales program.

This purchase became possible due to recent changes in the Ukrainian legislation, which allowed the MoD to make direct procurements of defense articles from abroad. We are confident that it will contribute to major increase of defense posture of Ukraine.

We are really grateful to the U.S. partners who contributed to reforms in defense and security sectors of Ukraine and provided our nation with the opportunity to strengthen its defense capabilities. We are proud that Ukraine is becoming a reliable partner of the United States eligible to procure hi-tech U.S. defense products.
