On November 19, 2012, Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Olexander Motsyk had a working meeting with the Chief of Staff of The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) John Morton.
OPIC is the U.S. federal agency that provides political risk insurance and investment services to small, medium and large scale U.S. businesses in more than 150 countries.
During the meeting they discussed prospects of OPIC cooperation with Ukraine. Mr. Morton informed the Ambassador about the launch this year of four major projects in Ukraine for the amount of over $120 million. Total number of projects with Ukraine after the renewal of OPIC activity in late 2009, reached 12 for the amount of almost $200 million.
Ambassador O.Motsyk noted the need for further attraction of U.S. investment to Ukraine, and emphasized the importance of Ukraine's cooperation with the organization like OPIC. He also stressed the need for wider dissemination of information on Corporation’s resources among the U.S. business community considering starting business in Ukraine.
Both sides noted the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere, in particular, in agriculture, renewable energy and energy efficiency
