On December 12, 2012, a luncheon on the occasion of the annual meeting of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) took place in Washington D.C.
In his welcoming remarks Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US Olexander Motsyk extended his congratulations to the USUBC on a successful year and on reaching the 200 membership mark. Out of 200 member-companies almost 50 are ranked in the Global Fortune 500. O.Motsyk wished USUBC achieve new results in the field of deepening bilateral trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the US in 2013. The Ambassador also informed US officials and guests of the meeting of the progress on economic reforms in Ukraine and highlighted new opportunities for business development and investments in the Ukrainian economy.
In his turn, president of the USUBC Morgan Williams thanked the Embassy of Ukraine to the US for its support and assistance in the Council’s activity in the development of bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation and marked high prospects for the Ukrainian market and economic potential of Ukraine. Mr.Williams also expressed his hope for further increase of number of the Council member-companies and readiness to make efforts to promote an increase in the inflow of American investments in Ukraine and support Ukrainian companies’ presence on the US market.
After the luncheon Ukraine’s Ambassador had meetings with representatives of several American companies, including Philip Morris International, Cargill, Visa Inc., Zeppelin Ukraine and Caterpillar to discuss investment opportunities in the Ukrainian economy, expansion of these companies in Ukraine, as well as assistance in solving possible problems.
Cooperation with USUBC helps inform American business about export and investment opportunities of the Ukrainian economy, solve possible problems of U.S. companies in Ukraine or Ukrainian companies in the U.S., as well as further deepening of bilateral trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the United States, including growth of Ukrainian exports to the US and attraction of American investments to Ukraine.
