April 25, 2012 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the USA Olexander Motsyk and Defense Attaché Vice Admiral Ihor Kniaz took part in the traditional ceremony of laying wreaths to the “Spirit of the Elbe” bronze plaque held annually at the Arlington National Cemetery.
The ceremony was dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the historic Link-Up of the Soviet Army First Ukrainian Front and the First U.S. Army troops on April 25, 1945 near the town of Torgau in eastern Germany at the River Elbe.
The event was also attended by ambassadors of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, representatives of other CIS countries diplomatic missions, World War II veterans, and U.S. Administration officials.
