Ambassador Oksana Markarova met with Ukrainian students, all graduates of the 2022-2023 FLEX program, who made a stop in Washington DC for final program sessions.
Flex is a merit-based scholarship program funded by the Department of State. Over 35,000 students compete annually in multiple rounds of testing to earn a FLEX scholarship, which provides an academic year in the United States living with a volunteer host family and attending a U.S. high school.
The young Ukrainian citizens shared their stories with the Ambassador, telling about what they have seen and done during their FLEX year, their volunteer activities and roles as Ukraine’s cultural diplomats in the U.S.
Motivated and empowered by new knowledge and skills, the students are looking forward to the next chapters of their lives. They are determined to serve and build their free and independent country back better!
