Embassy  hosted the repatriation ceremony of ancient Ukrainian artifacts that had been stolen from Ukraine. 

The artifacts were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection US Immigration and Customs Enforcement  at the John F.Kennedy International Airport in New York City while smuggling from Russia.

Ambassador  Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner (DEAC) Diane Sabatino, Director of Field Operations-New York (DFO) Francis Russo, Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Clint Lamm, The HSI Special Agent Chatchai Chuntou took part in the ceremony.

In her remarks Ambassador Оксана Маркарова  thanked the US Customs and border protection service for securing the safe return of these antiquities.

She underlined that since Russia's full-kscale invasion of Ukraine began last year, Russian troops have stolen thousands of artefacts and works of art from Ukrainian museums and the occupied territories.
