Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Permanent Observer of Ukraine to the Organization of American States, and Ambassador of Ukraine to Antigua and Barbuda, Oksana Markarova, took part in the 55th General Assembly of the Organization of American States held in Antigua and Barbuda. PAhead of the Assembly’s opening, Oksana Markarova met with the OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin, who was elected to this position in March 2025. The Ambassador congratulated him personally on assuming the office, handed over a letter of congratulations from the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha and wished him every success in his new role.
Oksana Markarova thanked the OAS for its support of Ukraine from the first day of Russia's large-scale invasion and for all 6 documents on Ukraine adopted since 2022. She underscored the particular significance of the decision to revoke Russia’s observer status in the OAS. During the meeting, the Ambassador and Secretary General discussed ways to further strengthen high-level dialogue and develop new areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the OAS.
