State of Washington became 29th American state, which recognised Holodomor as a genocide and a man-made famine, which claimed the lives of millions of Ukrainians and and proclaimed November the Ukrainian Holodomor-Genocide Remembrance Month.
Embassy is grateful to  Governor Jay Inslee and the State of Washington for this important recognition especially meaningful during ongoing russian genocidal war in Ukraine.
On the 90th anniversary of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine, Russia's genocidal war of aggression persues the same goal as during the 1932-1933 genocide: the elimination of the Ukrainian nation and its statehood.
By continuing the terrorist attacks on the critical infrastructure, destroying historical and cultural heritage, forcibly removing Ukrainian children to the territory of the Russian Federation, Russia is waging a war against Ukrainian identity. The political and ideological narratives of the Stalinist era, in particular the denial of the existence of Ukraine as an independent state, are actively reproduced today in the totalitarian politics of present-day Russia.
Ukraine thanks those countries and governments that have already made a decision to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as genocide.
