Visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to the USA

On April 21-22, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal paid a visit to the United States. During the visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to Washington, a number of meetings were held with the top political leadership of the United States and the heads of international financial institutions:



The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal met with the President of the United States of America Joseph Biden. During the meeting with the Minister of Defense Lloyd Austin, the situation at the front and the supply of new weapons for the defense of Ukraine were discussed. The Prime Minister thanked the US Secretary of Defense for all the help for our victory.


Statements by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal were delivered at the Spring Meeting 2022 of the World Bank and the IMF. The Head of State and the Head of Government spoke about the situation in Ukraine and called on the world to support the struggle of the Ukrainian people in the struggle for freedom, independence, and protection of democracy worldwide (https://cutt.ly/EGeS83m). The meeting with Trade Minister Gina Raimondo discussed the strengthening of export controls and restrictions for Russia, as well as those who help the aggressor state to evade sanctions.


At a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Matthias Kormann, the Prime Minister invited the organization to contribute to the development of Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the support of the Ukrainian people in the struggle for a democratic future (https://cutt.ly/kGis6rp).

During the meeting with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the key 4 strategic priorities of cooperation with the United States at this stage were discussed: armaments, financial support, deepening sanctions against Russia, and US diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine's European perspective and EU accession. The meeting with the US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and the NSA team summed up the visit and coordinated actions that we need to work with the administration to move forward on all key priorities.


During the meeting with the Managing Director of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva, quick support was discussed now and discussions on the new program began.


The visit ended with a meeting with the Ukrainian Community.
