Two high-level visits to the United States took place on March 23–26, 2026.

At the invitation of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska participated in the #FosteringTheFutureTogether summit, where she shared Ukraine’s experience in implementing digital solutions in education. The Ukrainian side also presented proposals for contributing to Melania Trump’s initiative, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in innovation and education.

Among the key announcements was the launch of a new $25 million program by the U.S. Department of State to support the return and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia. This decision is the result of sustained joint efforts, the Ukrainian side highly values cooperation with American partners.

During her visit to Washington and Dallas, the First Lady visited leading cultural and educational institutions, including the Smithsonian, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, and the Dallas Public Library, contributing to broader awareness of Ukraine. The George Washington University and Georgetown University also joined the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies.

In Dallas, there was strong interest in Ukraine and meaningful engagement at every level—from meetings with city officials to events with representatives of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, Southern Methodist University, and local philanthropic leaders. A separate meeting was held with George W. Bush and Laura Bush.

In her remarks, Olena Zelenska highlighted the humanitarian impact of Russia’s war, including the destruction of schools and hospitals, children studying in shelters, and ongoing efforts to support children and youth, particularly through the Olena Zelenska Foundation.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal led Ukraine’s delegation at the CERAWeek international energy conference. The event brought together over 1,600 company executives, 84 ministers, and senior officials.

During the visit, meetings were held with Chris Wright, Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy and leading American energy companies, including Cheniere Energy, GE Vernova, Invenergy, and Westinghouse Electric Company. Discussions focused on investment, modernization, and the development of energy production.

A number of agreements and memoranda were signed between the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Naftogaz Group, and American partners, including the American Petroleum Institute. The United States remains a key partner in protecting and restoring Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Cooperation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) also continues to expand as an important element of Europe’s energy security.

The program in Washington included meetings with members of the U.S. Congress, expert discussions at the American Enterprise Institute, and a speech at Johns Hopkins University. Key priorities remain the protection, recovery, and long-term resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.

The outcomes of the visits demonstrate sustained high-level attention to Ukraine, a clear alignment of strategic interests, and effective engagement with partners at the highest level.
