On February 22, 2013 Ukraine’s delegation consisting of Andriy Portnov, presidential adviser and Co-chair of the Working Group on Political Dialogue and Rule of Law of the Ukraine-U.S. Strategic Partnership Commission and Andriy Olefirov, Deputy Foreign Minister, visited Washington D.C.
While in Washington D.C. Ukrainian delegation participated in a roundtable discussion “Ukraine’s 2013 OSCE chairmanship agenda with a focus on the human dimension” at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The discussion was also attended by the representatives of the U.S. Department of State, Department of Justice, Congress, leading American think tanks and NGOs.
The delegation of Ukraine gave an up-close look at the pace of the systemic reforms in Ukraine, launched by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, in particular, in the sphere of justice, legal system, and criminal procedural, anti-corruption and electoral legislation. The delegation also briefed the audience on Ukraine’s OSCE chairmanship priorities in 2013.
