The delegation participated in the 25th Annual Regulatory Information Conference organized by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). At the event O.Mykolaychuk met with the U.S. NRC leadership, regulatory authorities of other countries, including Russia and the EU Member States, as well as acting Under Secretary of State R.Gottemoeller.

During a meeting with the Chairperson of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of the United States E.Makfarlane they discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation on nuclear safety, in particular the implementation of the agreements of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and President Barack Obama reached during the Washington and Seoul Summits on nuclear security. O.Mykolaychuk and E.Makfarleyn signed a memorandum on cooperation between the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 2013-2015. The document identifies the key areas of bilateral cooperation for the next biennium, including support and technical equipment of the regional inspectorates for nuclear and radiation safety, modernization of the information system and strengthening communication capacities.

While in Washington, DC, Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine met with Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy Dr. P.Lyons at the U.S. Department of Energy. Both sides highly commended the existing level of interaction between Ukraine and the United States in the area of nuclear energy. O.Mykolaychuk and Dr. Lyons also discussed the ways to promote bilateral and international cooperation in strengthening the safety of civil nuclear facilities.

During the visit O.Mykolaychuk visited NPP "North Anna" in Virginia to learn about the interaction of the regulatory body with the generator of nuclear power, took part in the event at the Embassy of  Ukraine in the United States to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, Academician V.Vernadsky and also gave an interview to Ukrainian media in Washington, DC.
