On March 12-15, 2013 a delegation of Ukraine headed by Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel General V.Zamana visited the U.S.
While in the U.S. the Head of Ukraine’s delegation met with Jean-Paul Palomeros, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, and discussed current status and prospects for Ukraine’s Armed Forces cooperation with NATO. The parties noted Ukraine’s contribution to peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the North Atlantic Alliance and expressed interest in further development of their practical cooperation.
During the visit Ukraine’s delegation also held meetings with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff U.S. Army General Martin E. Dempsey; Admiral William Gortny, U.S. Navy Senior Commander; Dr. Kathleen Hicks, Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and Daniel A.Russel, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State. During the meetings the parties emphasized the important role of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the U.S. in the military and political spheres along with the need for its further development.
Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel General V.Zamana visited the Arlington Cemetery and participated in a wreath-laying ceremony.
