On April 12, 2012, on the occasion of the International Day of Human Space Flight, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk met with Director of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum John Dailey.
Ambassador of Ukraine informed J.Dailey about the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. In particular, he noted the success of the Ukrainian-American cooperation in space, including a number of projects of international importance – "Sea Launch", "Land Launch", "Antares" and others.
Mr. Motsyk highlighted great traditions of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in exhibiting and promoting of the achievements of mankind in the exploration of new horizons in aviation and space research.
Noting a significant contribution of Ukraine and its scientists into the space exploration and aviation progress and development of international cooperation in this field, the Ambassador of Ukraine stressed on the interest of our country for further deepening of cooperation in this area with the United States and expressed Ukraine's readiness to establish relations between museums of both countries to promote space achievements of mankind, including representation of Ukrainian accomplishments in aviation and space in exhibitions of the Smithsonian Museum.
For his part, Director J.Dailey expressed interest in establishing cooperation with the Ukrainian museums in the area of aviation and astronautics, especially in the cities of Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Poltava, and the museum of the State Enterprise "Pivdenne".
