On April 11, 2013, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with Librarian of Congress, a world known scientific and educational institution, James Billington.
They discussed an issue of deepening cooperation between the Library of Congress and the Embassy of Ukraine to the U.S. The Ambassador put forward a proposal to launch a joint film project aimed at promoting Ukrainian cinema in the United States. One of the parties to the project will be the Ukrainian Film Club of Columbia University represented by Yuriy Shevchuk, a professor of the Columbia University.
During the meeting the Ukrainian diplomat handed over the list of feature and short-length films, as well as documentaries proposed to be screened.
The Librarian of Congress welcomed Ukraine’s proposal. Also, it was agreed to realize the proposal in the near future.
O.Motsyk extended his thanks to Mr.Billington for a long productive collaboration with Ukraine and the efforts of the Library of Congress to preserve world literary and scientific heritage.
