On April 8-10, 2013, the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine visited the United States of America.
The delegation was headed by Oleksandr Oliinyk, First Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine, and included, inter alia, Admiral Ihor Kabanenko, First Deputy of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The delegation took part in the annual Bilateral Defense Consultations held in the Pentagon.
The U.S. Delegation was headed by Dr. Evelyn N.Farkas, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia.
At the consultations, the parties noted that cooperation between Ukraine’s and U.S. Armed Forces has a mutually beneficial and strategic character. The bilateral military cooperation meets the interests of both states and has a significant potential.
While in the U.S., First Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine O.Oliinyk met with Derek Chollet, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, and Daniel Russell, Deputy Assistant State Secretary. He also participated in the meeting of the U.S. - Ukraine Business Council, laid flowers to the Taras Shevchenko memorial, and visited U.S. military installations.
