On April 23, 2013, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) in Washington, DC.
Accompanied by Director of the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies Paul Shapiro, he examined the permanent exhibition of the Museum, as well as was briefed about the research conducted at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies.
According to Director Shapiro, USHMM has been maintaining fruitful exchanges with several archives from our country, ensuring preservation and restoration of memories about tragic historical events. O.Motsyk and P.Shapiro discussed the ways of further activation of the Ukrainian-American cooperation to preserve the memories of the Holocaust.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) is the United States’ official memorial to the Holocaust. The USHMM provides for the documentation, study, and interpretation of Holocaust history and related crimes. The Museum also covers such topics as Nazi persecution of prisoners of war and forced laborers from Soviet Union, many of which came from Ukraine.
