On April 24, 2013, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with Brett Begemann, the President of a leading U.S. agricultural company “Monsanto”.
The Ambassador informed American businessman of enormous agricultural potential of Ukraine, which is considered the “breadbasket of Europe”, great investment opportunities in the Ukrainian agricultural sector, as well as export prospects of Ukrainian agricultural products. O.Motsyk stressed that Ukraine is one of the few countries in the world that has almost ideal conditions for agriculture, and in a short time can double its food production, which is especially important in the context of a global food security.
In his turn, the President of Monsanto, one of the leading global suppliers of agricultural products and new technologies in the agro-industrial field, informed of the current status and prospects for the expansion of the company in Ukraine. Subsidiary “Monsanto-Ukraine” is the only foreign company in Ukraine that created a plant selection station for the research on selection of seeds. This station is located in the city of Uman’ in Ukraine.
The parties noted that the Monsanto’s expansion on the Ukrainian market to increase its investments in agriculture is mutually beneficial both for agricultural industry of Ukraine and the Company.
In conclusion, B.Begemann invited O.Motsyk to visit the headquarters of the Monsanto in St. Louis, Missouri, to see the manufacturing facilities of the Company and to discuss opportunities to further strengthen its cooperation with Ukraine.
